Hello all! My name is Sarah and I have been an agent with Salt + Cedar Properties for a little over two years. One thing that I love about this brokerage, is that we are constantly looking for ways to give back. This fit perfectly into my life, because giving back to my local community is one of the most important things to me. One way I’ve done this, is running an annual coat + winter clothing drive.
I’ve been doing this every fall for nearly 10 years. It’s always been sad to think that there are so many people going without a winter coat because they are unable to afford one. As of 2024, 37.9 million people (11.5% of the US population) are living in poverty, unable to afford basic necessities. EVERYONE deserves warmth. Over the years the coats I’ve collected have gone to amazing causes. They’ve gone to events where coats are handed out free to anyone in need, to families that are unable to add warm clothing to their budget, and to one of my personal favorite places the Market Street Mission (formerly Jersey Shore Rescue Mission) in Asbury Park. They are truly amazing. They work to provide free meals, shelter, and rehabilitation to locals in need. The profit from anything sold in the thrift shop is filtered back into providing these essential items, free of charge.
Instead of dropping donations in random bins, consider taking your gently used coats and clothing here! The address is 701 Memorial Drive – donations are collected Tuesdays-Saturdays 9:30-3:00 on the side of the building (Sewall Ave). They will help you unload your car and get your donations to those who will actually be able to benefit from them. Remember, to always be grateful for everything you have. Search for ways to help people in your community. If you ever need suggestions, please reach out to me! There are so many ways to give where you live, and I am so happy to help.
